My friend Cheryl (whose Mom knitted me that killer hat out of soy yarn) sent me a Coconut Mint Creme Bar, which in plain speak is soap, that was produced by her friend, Janelle Pettiford, who created the soap under her new beauty and body care company, Janelle Beauty (http://www.janellebeauty.com).
It came in the mail yesterday and last night, I pulled it out of it’s simple cardboard box packaging thinking, “It’s a bar of soap, how different could it be from any other bar of soap?” (I was getting ready to take a shower for the first time in two days because my father’s hot water tank broke leaving us with only cold water and anyone who’s ever taken a cold shower before knows, they’re not exactly pleasant.)
So what did I think about the soap aka creme bar? If I were stuck on an island like in the television series, LOST, with a bunch of other survivors and I wasn’t sure if we were all dead or alive, and I lived each day in tense uncertainty of whether we’d ever get off of the island or not, I’d want this bar of soap. Not just for it’s exotic and familiar scent of coconut and mint (FYI, I love mint. I drink Metro Mint Water (www.metromint.com) by the gallon) but also because it lathered well, is completely natural, and got me squeaky clean without any of that sticky residue that every single bar of hotel soap leaves on your skin no matter how long you stand in the shower post-wash. (Really if hotels want to have their guests conserve their water, they need to get some decent soap.)
There’s also bits of oatmeal in this soap for some good wholesome scrubbing action which is good for sloughing off dead skin cells and invigorating your body overall. Those bits of oatmeal really make me wish I could eat this bar of soap too. Random thought: Edible soap. Eat as you clean. How great would that be?! It’s kind of organic in a weird way.
At any rate, showers are boring, and this Coconut Mint Creme Bar will help give you something different to talk about at work besides your crummy boss.
Thank you Coconut Mint Creme Bar for breaking my shower fast, and for making me feel like I wasn’t just taking a shower but having an experience.
